My name is Tony Shaw and I have been involved in the world of graphic art since August 2007.
My first encounter with graphic design came after I stumbled on a gallery by Peter Sharpe in 2005 whilst looking for some surreal wallpaper for my laptop. I remember being really impressed by what I saw and was amazed at how stunning and professional his work looked. I never thought I would ever produce images even approaching that quality. The only software I'd used up until then was Microsoft Paint.
Early in 2007 I re-visited Peter's site and purely by chance I happened to read one of his tutorials. I discovered that he produced the bulk of his work in Bryce and as a result I got hold of a free copy from DAZ Studio and loaded it onto my laptop. I have been helplessly addicted to it ever since. Unfortunately it appears that Peter's site no longer exists otherwise I would have provided a link to his gallery.
Since then I have expanded my design horizons and these days, as well as Bryce I use Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Fireworks, Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Flash, DAZ Studio, Apophysis, Vue, Fractal Therapeutic Project & Terragen. I am now also trying to get to grips with ZBrush, TrueSpace, Incendia and 3D Studio Max ... there just aren't enough hours in the day!!!
My personal web site at www.tony-shaw.co.uk contains a few galleries to explore, namely Photoshop, Bryce, Apophysis, Vue & Terragen, however some of the images have been created by using 2 or more of these applications.
The majority of my work is displayed at the online art community Renderosity
www.renderosity.com/mod/galler…I am also a moderator and produce some of the animated gifs and grapphics on Digital Down Under
digitaldownunder.net/ which is an Australian 3D graphic art site run by SpiritTina
spirittina.deviantart.com/ and FifthElemental
fifthelemental.deviantart.com/I post here at deviantART as well where I am also an Admin for the Home-Of-Dragons club
home-of-dragons.deviantart.com….
My username is 'tanglimara' on all these sites.
I am often asked how long it takes to produce each image, this varies greatly and can take anything from a couple of hours to a couple of days. I don't have any training in art except for what I did at school, and believe me that was a long time ago. To be honest I don't really have a clue what I'm doing most of the time, I just know that I have fun doing it.
